-Requesting advice from the National Judge Advocate/Counsel General
Reminder: The American Legion National Judge Advocate serves as Counsel General to the
American Legion Auxiliary. Requests from American Legion Auxiliary departments for advice
from counsel General must be submitted in writing by the Department President to the
Department Secretary, who will then submit the written request to the National Secretary, who
will make the request to Counsel General. Counsel General will respond to the National
Secretary who will convey the response to the department. How long a response will take
depends on the nature of the issue and what else Counsel General has on his plate, as I'm sure
you understand. A response can occasionally be received in a week or two, and sometimes it
takes months - it all depends.
It is with great sadness that I inform you that Doreen Hinrichs, longtime member and this year's
Orting Poppy and Solider Home Rep, passed away on February 3rd, 2013. A memorial service is
being planned for March 10th to be held at the Senior Mobile Home Park, 2500 S. 370th, Federal
Way in the Clubhouse. More details to come. Letters of condolences can be sent to 2500 E. 370th
Ave #221, Federal Way, WA 98003.
Past Department President Juanita Berry's internment has been changed to April 19th, 2013 at
11:15am at the Tahoma National Cemetery. The Legion/Auxiliary will be hosting a reception
afterwards.
